Neil deGrasse Tyson

Ever since I was young I have been raised with a somewhat strict religious background. People who do not speak Spanish wouldn't catch that that quickly because my name is in Spanish. Josue is the English equivalent to Joshua and my middle name is David, both names you would find in the bible. I went to church and I remember my grandmother not letting us watch TV on the Sabbath. I am BCC studying to become a computer engineer, which has deep roots with science. I have had a deep interest with things that pertain to the field of science. This has changed my views on religion, and I now consider myself to be more agnostic than actually following any denomination. I really hate atheist who are not really atheist but are in fact anti-religious. They do not believe in nothing, but they love to hate on religions, telling you why your religion is wrong.
This is why I respect Neil deGrasse Tyson, who most people would consider an atheist. He is a very famous astrophysicist, director of the Haden Planetarium, and now has started to host the show Cosmos. He is bringing newer generations toward science like Bill Nye did so many years ago. Why do I respect an atheist after having spoken badly about atheist? This is because Tyson does not consider himself atheist because of the negative connotations that the word atheist has. He does not think that his opinions on religion need to be discussed with people. His thoughts are his own thoughts. He does not need to challenge religion when he is discussing science.
The other reason I admire Tyson is because he went mostly went through the same education we went through. Yes his parents where very educated themselves, and most likely complimented in his education, but he went through public school up till high school. I remember teachers telling us in school that we could not compare to other children who were getting a better education because they were not in public school like us. Neil deGrasse Tyson shows us that with hard work the education system that we go through will not define entirely how well we will do in the future.
