Respect. Power. Juice. .

Respect and power, how far will you go to get the juice? I haven’t watched a movie about New York, I’ve only watched many movies filmed in New York City. My favorite movie filmed in New York City was Juice. Juice was filmed in Harlem, in the same neighborhood I grew up in. Everybody has a different view on the spirit of New York, different from what the media presents to people who don’t live in the inner city or in New York at all. Juice captures what New York City really is, which is kids cutting class, people hustling on the streets, people killing each other and people blasting music.
The movie shows what real New Yorkers deal with everyday, whether they choose to or not. People selling drugs to make a living, praying the cops don’t catch them. Kids using music to escape the broken neighborhoods they live in because in the “hood” you gain power and respect when you’re rich and your song is playing on the radio. The bright lights and the famous yellow taxis isn’t what the real New York City is really about. Teens running around with guns, aching to pull the trigger without having to face the harsh consequences. Tupac Shakur, plays the main antagonist in Juice (Juice). Once Tupac gets his hands on a gun and kills his best friend over a couple of bucks, his true character begins to unravel. The many scenes displayed in the movie are things that teens go through in reality. A lot of young teens are just trying to make it out of the jungle with a fur coat. The spirit of New York City is hidden behind the lies the media feeds outsiders.
