Romeo Santos is also known as "El rey de la
Bachata" (The king of Bachata). He is a famous Dominican singer that was
born in the Bronx. I remember I had the pleasure of meeting Romeo way before he
became famous. I remember looking at him and I never thought he would be as big
as he is today. Romeo wrote his own songs since the age of thirteen, instead of
being in the streets, or hanging with his friends he preferred to stay home and
write songs. He then made a group that started out really small and then became
a big success. What I admire most about this man is that he grew up in the
streets of the Bronx, and he dedicated literally his life to become important
and famous. He went after his dreams and never ever gave up, the fact that
everyone he knew told him he didn’t have the voice to become a singer, it’s what
made him work even harder. Besides his music I look up to Romeo because he
proved many people wrong. Now he is on the top charts of the best Bachata singer worldwide.
Romeo has played a big role in my life because Bachata is the main music I listen to, and just by being from the same hood and the same country I’ am from. His music always gets me into a good mood, it’s so upbeat and makes you want to start singing and dancing, even if you don’t know how to. However, I’m pretty sure in the future Romeo will become a legend, because he will be the first Hispanic celebrity to perform a concert at the Yankee Stadium. And of course that is an event that I will not miss! I grew up listening to Romeo and the day he stops is the day I will stop listening to Bachata because “The king stays king”.
