Arranged marriage in NYC
I lived in New York City my entire life, I couldn’t imagine myself living anywhere else. I‘am fascinated with the sounds and the lights of downtown Manhattan. However, the buildings are also an incredible sight, each street is crammed with buildings that are built side by side with no room in between them, and a number of skyscrapers are present throughout the city as well. One thing I love about New York is the different people I meet every day. One morning on the subway I met this tall handsome Moroccan man, we talked for hours and hours about our background and our families back home. He told me about his dreams and his struggles. Like any other immigrant he came to the U.S searching for a better life. He spoke about his life in Morocco and how wealthy his family was until one day everything was gone, family companies started going out of business and his world came down in a split second. So, he decided to move to New York without a dime in his pocket.
His very first day in New York City he found a job as a busboy in a restaurant in Times Square, he made a decent amount of money to rent a small empty room, but had to sleep on a hard wooden floor. As the days went by he worked hard for his money now he has two jobs to take care of himself. I couldn't get my mind off this man; there was something about him that I fell in love with. His dedication to achieve his goals and his faith in “Ala” ( God) drew me more into him. Moreover, my Moroccan friend and I started to build a very strong friendship, we confided in each other, we even hung out several times. One day out of nowhere [deleted by prof C] but as time flew by I feel in love with this man! it’s been seven years, we now have two beautiful kids and there isn’t one day that I don’t thank god for putting this wonderful man in my life.
