According to NY.com "Over 4.3 million people ride the subway system every day; over 1 billion people go through the turnstiles per year!"( NY.com) but during the summer and winter it seemed like it was double by how full the subway cars were at times. When 4.3 million people ride the subway everyday most of us can see and some have experienced the hassles of riding the subway, especially during the summer and winter. I used to work in McDonald's on 5th Ave. across the Empire State Building. Going and coming back from work was really frustrating in times. During the summer it will be so humid while waiting for the train, and once the train came it was usually so packed not a lot of people can get in. I remember one summer day I got on the 4 train to go back to the Bronx, I had this man's sweaty armpit near my face. It was so disgusting and it was an uncomfortable ride back home that day. People were getting frustrated from the heat starting random petty arguments, even though some were hilarious!. But the part that I hated the most about riding the subway in the summer was the delays. Most of the time it felt like an oven while we waited five minutes or even longer at times. During the winter it was the same story I always go off work during rush hour there were days that I wished they let me go early. It was always so packed that I would have to wait 2 to even 3 trains to pass before I can even get on. There was less space because of people big coats. I remember this elderly woman sitting down next to me say "there is not space to breath, its like we are in a can of sardines" and she was right it was a good metaphor. Since when subway cars became cans of sardines. I am glad that after those awful experiences I had riding the train, I switched to an overnight position in McDonald's and then the only worries I had was getting robbed which to me was easier to deal with riding a can of sardines and having peoples armpits in my face.
