The metropolitan museum is one of the greatest tourist attractions in NYC and has a big reputation as one of the best. It highlights the art from all era's of history. During my experience of the museum I had to explore the Egyptian and roman section as part of a class project. The sculptures of famous people they had and actual art pieces interested me a lot. I had so much interest in the sculptures I even tried to take photos of myself with the sculptures but sadly I was not able to take photos of all the art because security threatened to take my phone. The art seemed so much more difficult to make back then due to the fact there was no technological equipment that aided them as much as now. This made all the art seem so much more attractive and splendid to view. This museum is always talked about as being a huge attraction and it is indeed worth the money. Every person who appreciates art should visit this museum. I only visited two sections of an enormous museum that covers all different aspects of art. After I finished my project for my class I decided to stay longer and explore the Gothic era. I was very fascinated by the Christian art they had, the depictions of the Virgin Mary were such eye catchers and I was instantly interested in there mystique.
There were a record "6.28 million people who visited the Met during the fiscal year that ended on June 30. That is the highest recorded since the Metropolitan Museum began tracking visitor attendance more than 40 years ago." The metropolitan's reputation is an endlessly growing tree that never seems to stop amusing spectators. If I had to say my favorite work of art it would have to be The Scream. Everyone knows this painting. The weird looking guy with his palms on his cheeks, standing on a pier or something with the background in shades of blue and red. My experience in this museum was overwhelming and I enjoyed myself a lot.
